THE MAIN PRINCIPLES OF PILATES:
Concentration - The key element to connecting your mind
and body.
Control - Pilates is about controlled movement with
every exercise.
Center - All exercises and motion start with your core
muscles (the abdomen, lower back, hips and buttocks). These muscles support the
spine internal organs and your posture. Pilates call this muscle group the “Powerhouse” region.
Precision - Every movement in Pilates has a purpose.
Focus on doing the movements properly and with control. Eventually they will become
second nature.
Breathing - Breathe in through the nose and out through
the mouth. Completely inflate the lungs. Breathe in to prepare for the movement and breathe
out to execute the movement. This will help you to control the movement and
oxygenate your blood.
